John Walker is a Montana agricultural professional who has spent his entire career working directly with farmers across the Northern Plains. With hands-on experience from global agribusiness companies to local producer organizations, John brings a rare blend of field knowledge, agronomy understanding, and relationship-focused service to every operation he works with.
John’s approach is simple: listen first, understand every acre, and deliver solutions that make sense for Montana growers.
John's last position supported producers, ag retailers, and agencies across Montana and North Dakota by helping growers adopt high-value cropping systems like Nuseed’s Omega-3 Canola. His work includes field support, fertility discussions, grower meetings, production planning, and helping farmers access new premium markets and added revenue streams.
At FBN, John worked with independent producers to bring transparent pricing, data-backed decision tools, and agronomic support to their farms. He helped growers compare input costs, understand ROI drivers, and adopt tools that increased profitability in a tough ag economy.
And finally as a board member for the Montana FFA Foundation, John helps support agricultural education, leadership development, and opportunities for the next generation of Montana agriculturalists. His involvement keeps him closely connected to local chapters, advisors, and the future of the state’s ag community.
My Story
I grew up around agriculture and never lost respect for how much risk, capital, and trust it takes to farm in Montana. Over the years, I’ve worked across ag retail, seed systems, and technology-driven sales, managing large territories, supporting hundreds of growers, and collaborating with agencies and agronomists across the Northern Plains.
What I saw repeatedly was this:
Too many recommendations weren’t tied back to dollars and cents.
Inputs were sold, practices were promoted, but ROI was rarely tracked in a way that mattered at the farm gate.
That gap is exactly why I started HW Return.

Why I Do This

Outside the field, I’m deeply involved in agricultural leadership and education, including serving with Montana FFA and supporting the next generation of ag leaders. Family, community, and legacy matter to me and that mindset carries directly into how I work with growers.
